ALPINE — Theatre of the Big Bend is celebrating 60 years of Theatre under the Stars, a program that has taken place every summer since 1965 at Kokernot Outdoor Theatre.
For six decades, Theatre of the Big Bend in the heart of Alpine has been a treasured local tradition and annual destination for generations of families throughout Texas, and beyond. This July, they’re presenting “Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” a musical of the classic fairytale about a young woman improving her station in life through hard work, kindness and perseverance — with help, of course, from her fairy godmother. Theatre of the Big Bend is seeking to raise $25,000 by June 15 to help support the production and affordable ticket prices. For many families in the region, Theatre of the Big Bend is the only option for live, family-friendly theatre for hundreds of miles in any direction.
